About

My name is Ashley Acers

I believe that early childhood education should be rooted in joy, respect, and real connection—both with children and the adults who care for them. When we invest in educators and families through meaningful, engaging learning, we build communities where everyone can thrive.

I started my journey in early childhood education back in 1989 and have worn just about every hat there is: teacher, director, curriculum designer, and center creator. I even opened my own nature-based school (yes, we had mud kitchens, gardens and animals!). Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of consulting on projects used by national organizations like KinderCare, Learning Care Group, and Cadence Academy.

My work also includes community-based support for families in transitional housing. I’ve led interactive parent education workshops, provided child development training, and helped create a Reggio Emilia-inspired day center where families feel empowered and connected.

I’m proud to be affiliated with the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance (NAREA), Reggio Children International, NAEYC, and Oregon State Child Care Resource & Referral. I was also honored to be featured in Havens For Hope, published by Red Leaf Press—a book that highlights programs making a difference for vulnerable children and families.  My goal and vision for All Kidding Aside is to offer new information and interact through different media as a “round table” of professionals. Forget the podium and tedium…let’s learn together, exchange ideas and have a blast while doing it!   Ideally creating and maintaining a place of mutual respect, confidence building; leading to unimaginable curiosity for teachers and children alike!
